Janaraksha Rural Development Trust has been working to restore traditional lakes and strengthen water security across rural Karnataka. Through scientific lake rejuvenation and strong community participation, we have successfully revived 34 lakes across Mandya, Mysore, Ramanagara, and Tumakuru districts, directly benefiting 5,750+ farmers and their families.

Our work includes desilting, removal of invasive vegetation, restoration of inflow channels, and strengthening lake structures. The fertile silt removed from lake beds has been distributed to farmers, improving soil health and agricultural productivity. We have also established local lake management committees to ensure long-term sustainability and community ownership. In addition, tree plantation along water stretches has helped improve biodiversity and environmental balance, leading to stronger groundwater recharge and more resilient rural livelihoods.
